Back from the Internet Dead!

I'M BACK

(Warning: This post is long and basically says I'm sorry for being gone and how the blog will be changing in the next few weeks)

Yes I know, it's been so long that you all don't even remember me. First off I'm sorry I've been gone so unbelievably long there is really one reason and that is school/ACt's/Colleges. I have not read a book of my own choosing in at least two months! Crazy I know. I also only got on the computer for school related stuff and or to check my email, not for anything I actually wanted to be on the computer for. However, I feel like my absence has been good because I have a few new ideas for the blog that will be some major improvements.

Well I was away I did have some time to think about blogging, reading, writing, and everything book related. I noticed a few things, first off being my lack of posting on my blog. I practically slapped myself in the head. I committed to blogging and then I can't even blog once a week? How ridiculous! I love blogging and discussing books and that's why I started in this crazy but amazing book world. I also noticed that I kind of lost my love for reading. I was buying books like crazy because there were so many amazing ones coming out and people who said they were amazing and I got overwhelmed. Where the heck do I even start? I look like a hoarder! Where is my door?! All these thoughts went through my mind. I started just reading because I had to for this blog and my other blog at least once a week and it just wasn't that magic that it used to be. So now I have at least 50 or more books to read and there are so many more that I want to read that are out and some amazing books coming out this year. Has this ever happened to any of you? Maybe I'm just having my mid-teen crisis. :) But, after thinking about it over my break this week, I've decided that I can't stop blogging, or reading, or writing. I just love it all to much! So I made a promise to myself to get back on track with one of my favorite hobbies!

First thing starting now there's going to be a few changes at this blog, starting with the promise of more posting. I cannot promise everyday or that I'll be posting consistently right off the bat. It will probably start really slow but I hope that in the next few weeks I will be posting at least 3 or 4 times a week.

The next plan of mine will probably take a bit longer but I really want to finally make this blog my own with my own personal touch. Basically this means that there will be some construction going on around here. Unfortunately I have no experience or any sort of knowledge in this area but I plan to educate myself/ get some help from some blogging friends. So this construction may not start for a while and when it does it will probably be for a while while I learn the ropes and tricks of blogging.

I've decided that I will no longer be rating books but recommending them. The reason for this is three things. First I have so many books to read that I don't want to spend all my time in a book that I don't like, just to say that I don't like it when I could be reading a book that I love. I also want to get into more of a discussion rather than here's how I liked the book the end. I really want to here what you all think too! That's one of the main reasons I got involved with the "online book world"; to meet some great people and discuss our love of books! Lastly as I was updating myself with what's been going on in the blogging world this week I noticed that someone else switched from rating to recommending because they want to be a writer and apparently publishers don't really like it when potential authors are reviewing and rating books on their blogs. I had never heard this before, and I'll probably look more into this, but I really want to be an author someday so..... in discussions and out ratings.

Basically I will be doing a lot of work to make this blog amazing! It will not be an overnight project but it will probably take a few months. But I promise it will be worth it! Thank you all for being such great followers and following a basically non-existent blog for these few months. Oh and I will be having a giveaway soon! The book will be Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. It will be for followers only as you all have been so loyal. Oh, one more thing, I will try to make my posts shorter and to the point or I will have a short synopsis and then a longer discussion. (Starting after this post) Okay, thank you all so much and I promise more improvements on the way!

  1. First off, welcome back, Kate!!

I know what you mean by having lost the love for reading - it happened to me, too! Reading somewhat became an obligation... which is plain sad, sad, sad. I'm trying to change that... by stopping buying books. I have so many books to read/reread/review, it's crazy. I don't need more!
Also, no rating system, yeah! I'm all for that. My blog doesn't have one, either.

    Have fun at blogging, Kate!

  2. Go, Kate! I'm glad your back and I've been through that too. Still kind of going through that. My reading has cut so far back it's not even funny. Still, when I do get to it, and remember how much I love it, it's easier. It's the long breaks between books that cause even longer breaks, that turn into giant lulls. No worries, it'll come back to you.

  3. Thanks so much ladies! I'm still going through it but I think I'm on my way back. Ginny I'm also cutting back my book buying to only books that I have wanted for a very long time and really want. I also felt that reading was more of an obligation than anything else and I kind of lost my passion. Jen, I totally get what you mean, it's really hard to come back after so long. I will take your advice and not wait long in between books! Thanks to you both! :)
