The Faerie Ring

Published by Tor Teen / Macmillan
Release Date September 27th 2011

Debut novelist Kiki Hamilton takes readers from the gritty slums and glittering ballrooms of Victorian London to the beguiling but menacing Otherworld of the Fey in this spellbinding tale of romance, suspense, and danger.

The year is 1871, and Tiki has been making a home for herself and her family of orphans in a deserted hideaway adjoining Charing Cross Station in central London. Their only means of survival is by picking pockets. One December night, Tiki steals a ring, and sets off a chain of events that could lead to all-out war with the Fey. For the ring belongs to Queen Victoria, and it binds the rulers of England and the realm of Faerie to peace. With the ring missing, a rebel group of faeries hopes to break the treaty with dark magic and blood—Tiki’s blood.

Unbeknownst to Tiki, she is being watched—and protected—by Rieker, a fellow thief who suspects she is involved in the disappearance of the ring. Rieker has secrets of his own, and Tiki is not all that she appears to be. Her very existence haunts Prince Leopold, the Queen’s son, who is driven to know more about the mysterious mark that encircles her wrist.

Prince, pauper, and thief—all must work together to secure the treaty… (Thank you Goodreads)

I am SUPER EXCITED about this book! I have known about this book for a while now and I really am so excited for this book to come out and to be able to read it. I mean, doesn't it sound great! First off, I love books that are set in the past so that's a definite first plus. Then you have a great heroine who is an orphan, a cool ring, and faeries! I know! This book is just going to be awesome! What I really like about this book, besides everything I just said, is that this book is it sounds so good and to the point and not completely complicated like so many books today. Today there are all these books with all these rules and twists and turns, which is good and exciting but, sometimes, all of these things can take away from a book and I also find myself wondering why it needed to be that complicated. Sometimes all of these complications just work against the books plot and are just plain confusing. Do you all get what I mean? Anyway, this book sounds straightforward with some cool twists. And I am just so excited for it to come out. Oh and let's not forget faeries! One of my favorite supernatural characters to read about! Another thing I like is that these faeries don't seem like happy little princess faeries but dark and......well just awesome!

And now let's take some time to admire the BEAUTIFUL cover. Gorgeous right? I have to say that I love what publishers are doing with book covers now and this is easily one of my favorites. SO I have been in contact with Ms. Hamilton and I have a few bookmarks, some postcards, and a button with this beautiful cover on. And they're signed too! Well not the button but the bookmarks are. So I will be having a giveaway for some lucky people to win some of these things very soon. I am not sure how many I will be giving away yet, I've got to go and see how many I have to giveaway. So look forward to that sometime soon! And get excited for this AWESOME new book!
